One of the things I love about the What Went Wrong Series, is learning how successful people navigate their journeys, the good and the bad. Tina Bakehouse was a perfect example of learning through missteps. An intuitive communication coach, shared her early struggles in launching her coaching programs, the lessons she gleaned, and how she has since refined her approach to align with her values and her audience’s needs.
What Went Wrong
Tina’s first attempt at launching a coaching program involved a five-day workshop where she offered both group and individual coaching. While the educational content was strong, the offer lacked clarity, particularly around pricing. This confusion left potential clients unsure about the value and the distinctions between her group and individual coaching programs. Additionally, Tina realized she had been offering too much at once, overwhelming her audience and diluting her message.
Key Learnings from Tina’s Experience
- Simplify the Offer: Tina learned to focus on a single, clear offer—starting with group coaching. This allowed her to refine her messaging and deliver greater value. She recognized that less is often more when it comes to communicating with potential clients.
- Align the Offer with the Audience: Understanding the unique needs and preferences of her audience allowed Tina to tailor her messaging and offerings for maximum impact.
- Leverage Community Dynamics: Group coaching fostered a sense of camaraderie among participants, which enhanced engagement and encouraged participation.
- Be Clear on Value: Tina’s pricing and messaging now emphasize the distinct benefits of each offer, ensuring potential clients understand what they’re investing in.
- Seasonal and Energetic Alignment: Tina schedules her work to match her energy levels and the seasonality of her business, prioritizing tasks that bring her joy and leveraging slower seasons to recharge or focus on lighter activities.
