I was getting out of my car, rolling a number of ideas in my head, thinking about a project I was hesitant to start. You know the kind — one it sits on your to-do list, quietly nagging at you while you find 101 other things to do instead.

And then I saw it.
A small rock, half-hidden in a flower bed, along side my parking space, painted bright blue with the words “Be Brave” scrawled across it in cheerful letters.

It stopped me in my tracks. I took a picture, smiled to myself, and left it there for someone else to find. But in that quiet, simple moment, it felt like the universe was giving me a little nudge.

Because let’s be honest — being brave in business isn’t about grand gestures. It’s not just quitting your job, launching a new product, or giving a TED Talk. Most of the time, bravery looks like trying something new even when you’re not sure it’ll work. Posting that video when you hate how your voice sounds. Pitching a client you’re sure will say no. Raising your rates, even though it makes your stomach flip.

Running a business means constantly stepping outside your comfort zone. And yes, it can be scary. But it’s also where the good stuff happens. Courage doesn’t mean you’re not scared. It means you do it anyway.

So if you’ve been hesitating, waiting for the “right” time, or convincing yourself you’re not ready — consider this your rock in the grass.
