GUEST: Kurian Tharakan

Stories create meaning in the mind of a customer

the episode

In this episode, our guest Kurian Tharakan explains that organizations, movements, products, companies thrive or fail when their stories thrive or fail. So if you have a deeply resonant, emotionally significant functionally relevant story, then the organization will continue to thrive. But when that story fails to continue to be relevant, that’s when the demise starts happening.

Take a look at the Fortune 500 list from the 50s and see how many even made it into this century, and how many are still around today?  There’s a lot of death in that and it’s not because the products died, the story had to die first.

While there are seven stories, we focused our conversation of the first story, Mighty Winds.  – These stories come from understand how external trends and systems impact your business.  Think of your business as a sailboat, and these trends, societal trends, technological trends, economic, environmental, political and legislative trends will blow and propel your business forward or downward. When your boat is on trend everything goes right. If you are off trend counter trend, you will die.
